The "Waikiki" area is a very diverse community. I'm starting this section by breaking it down to street names. I'll eventually start adding individual condo names or even sub-communities within Waikiki. I have lived, played and worked in Waikiki for many years so I am very familiar with the area called "Waikiki".

Harbor View Plaza's address is on Ala Moana Boulevard, but it is located at the corner (end) of Ala Wai Boulevard and Ala Moana Boulevard. The lobby entrance and driveway are located on the left at the end of Ala Wai Boulevard. I am very familiar with this building because I used to own and live in the building. The location is ideal for short strolls to Ala Moana Shopping Center, Ala Moana and Magic Island Beach Park, and the West end of Waikiki. There are convenience stores, restaurants, coffee shops and hotels just steps away. This section of Ala Wai Boulevard also has street parking and there is a public parking lot across at the marina if you have guests or an extra car that you need to park.

The building is an older design. Original layouts have the bedroom with sliding "shoji" type doors. The kitchens have a wall that obstruct the view out to the ocean side. The 1.5 baths are situated between the 2 bedrooms. Each bedroom has access to their 1/2 bath (toilet and sink) and then another door leads to the shared bath in the center. There is no trash chute, but a trash room on each floor with a trash receptacle that the resident manager and/or staff bring down to the dumpster. The parking areas are gated, but the upper level is not considered secure. There is a security guard at night. There is also a small pool and storage in the parking area about 4'x3'x8' or so.

Having lived in this building for a couple of years, I can point out my personal likes and dislikes.
I DO NOT like:
that it is at the end of Ala Wai because of vehicular traffic that sometimes makes it difficult to drive out to Ala Moana Blvd.
the noise from Ala Moana Blvd.
unable or difficult to have air conditioning.
key card for lobby doors and elevators is difficult to use.
stairs required to get from parking levels to lobby elevator.
garage driveway on Ala Moana Blvd exists, but is not available for resident use because trash bins are there.
pool is not in a sunny, welcoming area.
original design with sliding doors for bedrooms and bath.
washer and dryer take up kitchen space.

I DO like:
the close walk to Ala Moana Center & beach.
walk to stores and restaurants.
